Remove Common Core from ALL Louisiana Schools
Remove Common Core from ALL Louisiana Schools
To: Honorable Governor John Bel Edwards,
As a parent of a 7 and 3 year old daughter and a school resource officer for 8 years, I have heard the complaints and some cries from students, parents, educators and principals in reference to the common core math. Common core has and is affecting our students grades and GPA. Parents are not able to assist their children with their homework due to the common core way of solving a simple math problem such as 20+20. Without parents knowing the new way to a simple math problem, our children are not getting the assistance with homework at home. Many educators here in the state of Louisiana have stated that they hate the common core. An article was posted in The Livingston Parish News on September 26, 2019 stating, "BESE District 6 candidates pro-teachers, anti-common core".
I have noticed that in February 2019, Florida's Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order to end the Sunshine State's use of the Common Core State Standards.
Gov. Ron DeSantis heard the voice of his people and responded to it. We are asking you to do the same. You have done so much for the state of Louisiana and we're asking that you take actions on this.
Respectfully yours,
Officer Willie Brooks
