Bronzeville Historical Society is an Illinois not for profit educational organization on Chicago's South Side.  For nearly 20 years, the organization has worked closely with civic leaders, educators, universities, and families to bring Black cultural programs to the forefront of Illinois History.  Libation ceremonies, Juneteenth Celebrations, exhibitions, book signings, and film presentation have been provided for FREE year round at Pullman State Historic Site and Stephen A. Douglas Tomb Site from 2010 through 2017.  Douglas Tomb Site  was the only State of Illinois historic site with a resident African American interpreter.  Please restore the work of Bronzeville Historical Society at Douglas Tomb Site and build a Restorative Justice Center at Douglas Tomb Site grounds. Do not tear down the monument, but build a place for peace and change.

Senator Stephen A. Douglas is well-noted as a distinguished statesman with a racist past. Let's make a louder statement by transforming the Douglas Tomb Site into a stellar Restorative Justice Center and Art Park in the Bronzeville community of Chicago.
