This petition is made on behalf of, and at the request of Sara Lacy.

Cecil Lacy, Jr. was murdered by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Dept. Deputy Tyler Pendergrass and two other tribal officers. His last words were “I can’t breathe,” but Marysville Police Detective Craig Bartl purposefully left that information out of the SMART investigation summary, even though it was present in police reports.

Bartl conspired with a union appointed attorney representing Pendergrass, the medical examiner and prosecutors to destroy evidence and falsify documents to conceal the truth about the murder. 

The official cause of death was listed as “cardiac arrhythmia,” but after the family hired renowned forensic expert Dr. Bennet Omalu, he concluded Lacy died from “mechanical and positional asphyxiation” and found his manner of death to be homicide.

The family of Cecil demands justice for a life taken by police, and accountability for the way this case was handled.
