kelly conway started this petition to Governor J. B. Pritzker

On August 4th, 2021 the Governor of Illinois made a blanket statement that all K-12 children and their teachers, in public and private schools, are required to wear masks. J.B. Pritzker gave no specific health metrics that are guiding this decision, nor did he give parameters that could be attainted to reverse this mandate. This mandate is not specific and it is not anchored by any guidelines or achievable goals; it is indefinite.

Earlier this summer, after much opposition from the people of Illinois and local school boards, HB2789 failed to pass. This bill would have allowed the State of Illinois to have control over local individual school board decisions, but it did not pass.  The Governor should not be able to override this decision, as there is not currently a public health emergency in Illinois.

I am inviting J. B. Pritzker, along with any other Illinois politicians, to come to my children's school. You will be invited to wear a mask and spend some time getting acquainted to a 6 hour school day in a building without air conditioning (or even fans, as though are not allowed due to Covid). After your experience, we can then discuss the lack of research that proves masks are effective for children. Then we can discuss the 99.99% survival of this virus for the children that you are requiring to wear the ineffective masks.

I look forward to speaking with you after this experience. Our discussion will revolve around the risks that you are imposing and the lack of proven benefits to your mandate. We can also discuss specific metrics that can be added to your mandate to make it more understood to the people of Illinois, we deserve that at the very least.
