Ronald Spears started this petition to Governor, State of Ca Governor Gavin Newsome

The reduction of water entering the Salton Sea as a result of the QSA Agreement has created an environmental disaster of unmanageable proportions. As water shrinkage exposes more playa of the Sea bed, there is a dramatic increase in particulate matter that enters the breathable air affecting air quality and increases the incidence of respiratory infections in the residents and children living by the Salton Sea. The decreased water flow into the Salton Sea also increases the salinity levels in the water which has a dilatory affect on fish survival and reduces the main food source for the thousands of birds that depend on the Salton Sea as their primary source of food during their migration on the Pacific Flyway.

Only an Emergency Declaration by the State of California in conjunction with the Federal Government  can provide the necessary resources to resolve this ecological crisis. A clear message must be sent to Governor Newsome that a major crisis exists at the Salton Sea and will continue to worsen unless their is intervention by State and Federal Officials.
