This man needs to be free. Have a conscience, only very violent people need protective custody, and practically noone needs to be in prison.

The three strikes law has been recognized as a tool of ongoing systematic racialized oppression. Orlando Smith has paid his debt to society, over and over again. He deserves to see freedom.

Prisons shouldn’t exist. Until that day, we should free individuals like Orlando.

Having members of my family incarcerated, I know how dehumanizing and, after a period of time as the person has been rehabilitated, pointless. Orlando Smith has turned his life around. We all know the Three Strikes Law is unfair, racist, and unnecessarily prolongs sentences. People who suffer under this unjust law must be given relief and released within parameters was this heinous law not used in their sentences. Also, Orlando Smith has family support, has truly turned his life around and is a functional, active, artistic, creative, educator and humanitarian now. He must be released: commutation is the only humane and correct remedy to his situation. Please consider this man for commutation. Thank you very much.
