This is SACRED land, and the islands of Hawai’i were stolen by America, and America has done absolutely nothing in return to the islands after forcing so many Native people into oppression on their own land. In fact, America has not stopped the process of raiding and taking over sacred land, and it’s shown right here in the building of this telescope. America needs to be better, we need to stop taking away sacred land and continuing the oppression. Build it somewhere else!

This telescope would be detrimental to the ecosystem and the Hawaiian culture. Please can we be respectful for once!! Science can wait.

This project appears to be a stain on everything science and education is supposed to stand for. How does polling less than 1% of the local voting population and not even notifying or discussing involvement in this project with any transparency to members of the participating academic institutions involved equate with any sort of consensus that this project is a good idea? Further, stimulating the local economy by causing a slew of problems for people and the planet is an unacceptable and antiquated modality. How have the long-term decreases in quality of life due to increased noise, traffic, and population density been accounted for? On the environmental justice front, who is being made to huff on the tailpipe of the construction exhaust and forced to listen to its accompanying noise? TMT appears to be the perfect example of how to harm a planet in the name of Whatever.
