Support the historic Hawaiian Railway operations from encroachment.

Hawaii State Department of Transportation and Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization (OMPO) indicate intentions and plans to install "another" rail crossing - which is too close to the historic Hawaiian Railway facility. We are asking for community support to strongly oppose that effort. We are also asking our government officials NOT TO FUND this project which will extend the North - South road (Kualukai Parkway extension) on to Roosevelt Avenue. Kapolei - Makakilo - Hono Kai Neighborhood board # 34 already unanimously passed a resolution asking for this same support (which is strong opposition to this extension project). The recently added crossing on the west side of the shopping mall provides more than adequate access, so adding another crossing less than 1/4 mile further east - is an entire waste of taxpayer funds. The 20 million dollar cost for a proposed 1/3 mile extension defies common sense. In addition, the new proposed crossing would negatively impact the ability of Hawaiian Railway to change cars in order to re-align the train. The new crossing proposed would fall inside (encroach) on the Hawaiian Railway property lines and rail yard.
