Make New York State a Reproductive Rights Sanctuary

Catherine Lederer-Plaskett started this petition to Governor Cuomo and the New York State Senate

Donald Trump has vowed to: overturn Roe v. Wade, sign a ban on all abortions after 20 weeks, make the Hyde Amendment permanent, defund Planned Parenthood, rid the country of Obamacare and with it contraceptive coverage, and appoint over 100 anti-choice federal judges plus U.S. Supreme Court Justices. With one Supreme Court seat “vacant”, and three justices almost 80 years of age or older, it is a very real and frightening possibility that Roe will be overturned. Then abortion will once again become a “states’ rights issue”, and back-alley abortions will become commonplace again, and women will die.

Together we MUST make New York a Reproductive Rights Sanctuary State.

New York State was a leader in 1970 and was at the forefront in the fight for women’s reproductive rights. But our State Law, passed in 1970, does NOT provide 21st Century medical care or the full constitutional protection of Roe v. Wade. It’s time for NY to take the lead again in 2017.

Tell Governor Cuomo and the New York State Senate to JOIN the Assembly in Standing up for All Women!

Tell Governor Cuomo that he MUST use the powers he demonstrated when he got the Senate to pass Marriage Equality, and Safe Gun and Anti-Fracking Legislation. Tell him he MUST convince the seven rogue Democrats of the IDC to return to the Democratic Caucus, so that they can do what they were elected to do -- the People's Business.

I support Making New York a Reproductive Rights Sanctuary State and demand that our NYS Legislators PASS:
♦ The Reproductive Health Act
♦ The Comprehensive Contraceptive Coverage Act (CCCA)
♦ A Budget that Funds Reproductive Health Care

It is time for New York State to lead the way once again.
