My name is Julie Bovenzi, I am the owner of Truth Organic Spa in Grafton, Ma. 
I am a massage therapist and esthetician as well.

We have been closed down since March 15. I  am concerned about the financial consequences that could come if I am closed much longer...I have tried twice to get some relief and the money was depleted from the accounts both times. I have paycheck protection for my employees and I need to apply for more.

 I would like to know if Chiropractors and Physical therapists are deemed essential and have remained open during this pandemic why isn't Massage Therapy deemed essential? I am hearing many things about not being able to open my doors until July or even August...I know it is speculating on my part...but that worries me. Our clientele call daily seeking information and relief from injury related issues, neck shoulder, low back, etc. In their personal journey to wellness Chiropractors or Physical Therapists haven't helped their situation, Massage Therapy has, everyone's journey being different. Many of our clients massages are actually covered by their health insurance, and they are being referred by a Dr. I feel we use the same precautions as Chiropractors or Physical therapists, if not more (sanitation etc) I have been a massage therapist for 35 years and I feel like our profession just took a step backwards as far as importance and respect goes.. In the beginning of my career I had to really prove myself as a massage therapist, people thought massage therapists were hippies in the mid 80's and we weren't respected by the medical profession as much back then. I don't know what the guidelines will be but I know if I have to wait until July it will be detrimental to my business that I have worked so hard to build. I would like Massage Therapy to be deemed an essential profession. I am not insensitive to the virus or social distancing, I just feel confident that the precautions we take are the highest and our sanitation has always been impeccable. People need us and it should be their choice if they want to come in or not.
