Vanessa Helmes started this petition to Governor Bill Lee and

This new legislation is supposed to make our roadways safer. It is presented to the public as being a way to limit accidents on Americas highways,  when it will most likely cause MORE accidents.

What happens when most vehicles approach a slow moving transfer truck? They dart into the most available open lane and pass it. If we are in an 80 mph zone and we're moving at 65 mph a car could very well be on our trailer before they even realize that we are not traveling at the same speed. Then they have to slam on their brakes or dart into another lane.

We, as truck drivers, see first hand that these other drivers are not paying attention. Being on their phones is only one of the many things we see everyday. The people making these laws are not out here on the road. They are also not the ones who have to meet the deadlines that we have to meet carrying product that can spoil, or that is actually alive or so many other things.

This is just one other thing they want to add to make our jobs difficult. They are trying to say that the number of accidents on the road is due to us. When they add the legislation and the number of accidents goes up they will still blame it on us.

This industry is very difficult as it is. The more regulations they add the less people are going to want to work in this field. Pretty soon, who is going to transport America's freight?

Please stand with me against this and fight for our right to be able to do our jobs in a timely manner and not actually cause more danger on the roads.
