The Covid 19 Virus has been recently classified as a global pandemic. As of March 18th we have 26 confirmed cases and this number is growing every day. The state has incrementally increased restrictions on social and work settings to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The result has had a significant financial impact on Kentucky citizens who are responding to these restrictions to do their part to stop the spread of the virus. The median income in Kentucky is $48,375 which is $11,961 lower than the national average. The citizens do not have the economic mobility to withstand the impacts of this crisis and keep their families fed and sheltered.

In order to protect the health, housing and nutritional security of our state, we, the undersigned, call on Governor Beshear to act now so our citizens will not have to bear the worst impacts of this crisis. Specifically, we call for a suspension of all rent, mortgage and utility payments until this crisis is over and these restrictions are lifted to allow people to do what they need to in order to take care of themselves, their families and the community.
