Governmets all over the WORLD: Laws against FORCED psychiatric drugging and hospitalizations
Its pretty amazing to see psychiatric 'experts' such as the former head of the DSM task force, Allen Frances, exposing psychiatric diagnosis as unscientific and dangerous—something CCHR has been exposing for decades. We don't expect him to acknowledge he is admitting (now) to much of what we've always said, and we don't think he's particularly thrilled that we keep quoting him. But more to the point - we don't care. The fact remains, there are no medical tests in existence that can prove mental disorders are biologically based illnesses requiring drugs to treat them- despite the American Psychiatric Association's longstanding failed attempts to legitimize mental disorders on par with verifiable medical illness or disease. And that, has been our point all along.
"The irony in all this is that many of the psychiatric drugs administered to mental patients carry with them deadly side effects, including things like stroke, heart attack, and sudden death. These drugs can also trigger hallucinations, psychosis, and suicidal tendencies in mental patients, which in turn takes a significant toll on their physical health. The end result of the conventional psychiatric treatment process, in other words, is a life of drug addiction, which most certainly leads to severe health problems that require even further treatment."
Psychiatric disorders are not medical diseases. There are no lab tests, brain scans, X-rays or chemical imbalance tests that can verify any mental disorder is a physical condition. This is not to say that people do not get depressed, or that people can’t experience emotional or mental duress, but psychiatry has repackaged these emotions and behaviors as “disease” in order to sell drugs. This is a brilliant marketing campaign, but it is not science.
“…modern psychiatry has yet to convincingly prove the genetic/biologic cause of any single mental illness…Patients [have] been diagnosed with ‘chemical imbalances’ despite the fact that no test exists to support such a claim, and…there is no real conception of what a correct chemical balance would look like.” —Dr. David Kaiser, psychiatrist

To all concerned:
The Human and Civil Rights abuses by psychiatrists have been witnessed in Romania, Poland and around the world for many decades. Considering that psychiatry is not a scientific medical science, we urge you to change the polices regarding forced psychiatric incarceration and drugging in your country. These procedures are a great threat to liberties and democracy. Psychiatry is used as a weapon to silence religious and political opposition. Deteriorating political climate seems to create an atmosphere in which local authorities feel that they can again use psychiatry as a means of intimidation.
