Hello all, 

Most of you know that it is currently illegal to have or vend ice cream trucks in Aurora, Colorado.  We need this to change!! Children and parents as well as the older folk generation absolutely love the ice cream truck. 

The reason it was banned from Aurora 40-50 years ago was because a child was killed either by the ice cream truck or someone not obeying the trucks hazards! I understand the reasons and the loss of a child,  I can't imagine. I have a two year old myself! 

So, In order for this to work, we would have to honor the child that lost his life . We need parents of children and grandparents,  everyone to come together to be safe around these trucks. Adhere to the "slow" and watch your kids extra during the summer! 

Most ice cream truck drivers are TRAINED to pull over near the sidewalk and to help with safe crossings for the children.  As a mom myself,  I understand that kids get super excited and dart out into the road, but we need to make sure the safety of our children as parents. When we hear the ice cream truck tune, if you don't want your kid to have ice cream, that's perfectly okay , but make sure the child is aware to not go running in the streets . Common sense. Though being an ice cream truck driver this summer , I had to sit a child down and explain the safety reasons for not darting out into the front of my truck because she was too excited. We all just need safety !! 

If you agree to lift this ban and allow ice cream trucks to legally vend In Aurora again, sign this petition.  I will personally train ice cream truck drivers for extra safety on the road .
