Some establishments have continued to use piercing guns for years, despite thousands boycotting this and it being discredited as a hygienic and safe choice by numerous body modification specialists (piercers). They have been told to physically restrain clients who are as young as 10 years old and continue to use the guns on ears, even against withdrawal of consent. This is a blatant breach of human rights, there are statistics to show there is a correlation between these piercing guns and infection rates from piercings. They are not clean, they are not safe and they are going against people's wishes; children's wishes.

We can change the protocol for piercings in places who use them and make it a mandatory action that staff must be trained adequately in the protocols of safe piercing and they must be trained in using piercing needles as opposed to the guns.

I had my ears pierced when I was 10 years old and I'm now 23 and still have problems in my left ear because of an infection I got from the guns being used. Two girls pierced me at the same time to make sure I didn't resist after the first one and they continued despite me crying and saying I was scared. My mam asked them to stop also but they pressed the trigger. I have since become acquainted with various professionals in the piercing and tattoo community and have learned the safer and more hygienic and humane ways of body modification, which do not ever involve the use of a piercing gun or breaching children's human rights, or cause ethical concerns by going against their consent.
