To stop exorbitant car parking charges at hospitals

During a current spell of just over two weeks to date visiting my mother in hospital I have been forced to spend nearly £100 on car park fees. I find this unacceptable especially as I cannot work while I'm in this position of driving to a hospital not local to me.
People who are ill and isolated from their family need visitors but not all can afford the costs (more than likely not budgeted for) and stand the threatening notices of what happens if you go over time or park in a panic in the incorrect area.
Illness is stressful and costly in so may ways and effects more then the patient.
Therefore if the trusts require more cash the government need to ensure they get in via the tax system not as a tax on the sick and worried friends and relatives using the hospitals car parks.
