Upon reading that UK politicians are set to receive a 2.7% salary increase next month, I’m sure the rest of the UK join me in the thoughts of how shockingly disgusting and inappropriate this is. At a time refugees are fleeing Ukraine fearing for their lives and being separated from loved ones as the men are staying behind to fight for their country.

In response to the governments claim this is to cover ‘dramatically increased duties,’ their already considerable salary of £80K+ a year does not compare to the increase duties and wages of that of key workers such as NHS staff, fire fighters, police, social workers, people working in the food industry who are on less than half of that salary

Just 2 days ago I saw a video of a young boy crying as he spoke of having to walk 3 hours after fleeing his country, his home, everything he owned and being separated from his father who had to stay behind and fight!

I’m sure you all agree that instead of lining the pockets of politicians, their suggested pay increase should go toward the victims of war so please sign this petition.

I am astounded by the bravery, solidarity and unity that Ukraine have shown as a country and feel any support from the UK would benefit them greatly
