There has been so much stress caused by school and the pandemic has added more stress towards students. Last year they still made students test even though most of the learning was online. State testing is meant to reflect on teachers and the school, why make the students take it then use it against them when it’s supposed to be used as a REFERENCE. I remember in 3rd grade that if I didn’t get a certain score on my state test I would have got held back (which I almost did) because over a dumb state test. Tests like these will start stress at an early age. Not only that, you’re threatening my education and trying to make me repeat a grade because I don’t know how to do a dumb test that’s supposed to see if teachers know what they’re doing. Most of the teachers I had also hate state tests too and agree on removing them but the government won’t listen to its people when we live in a democracy. Isn’t power to the people? I don’t see any of that happening. If you really want us to actually succeed in school, then listen to what we want. Removing state tests is less stress for us which means better grades so higher chance of getting jobs. If you actually cared about us including our crippling mental health and think of us as people not just “America’s Future” then please abolish having yearly state tests.
