The politicians, those most responsible for the chaos get paid during a government shutdown while thousands of federal workers get penalized. This only hurts the small government workers, not the big wigs responsible for the shutdown. I think it should be the other way around. I think all 535 members of congress should feel the burn from a government shutdown, not a paid vacation.

·         When the government shuts down our President, our Representatives, and our Senate members will no longer collect a salary for that period of time it is shut down.

·         When the government shuts down all members of the military and private contractors remain exempt. These men and women keep our country safe and deserve pay in a timely fashion.

·         All national monuments, museums, and parks will remain open during a government shutdown.

·         All federal employees who provide essential services and federal prison workers will be paid for their labor and are exempt.

When you light a fire under the chairs of the ones who cause the chaos maybe these government shut downs will mean more to those responsible. It is unfair to punish those who do not have control of this. We the people demand that this is changed in a timely and efficient manner. The members of the United States Government work for us and sadly it seems like that mindset has been forgotten by many Politicians.
