Most council offices have permitted their staff to remain at home to work resulting in full Switchboard mailboxes.   This means that no member of the public is actually able to speak on the telephone to any department.  All enquiries are being dealt with through a series of complicated links on their websites.  Each enquiry could take up to 3 months to be deal with.  

Any person who is not completely computer literate will therefore have absolutely no access to the council departments and those who can use the links have to wait an unspecified amount of time to have their query dealt with.  Their response is also automated so if you need to discuss any aspect of the enquiry with a council officer you are simply not able to do so.   

These employees are paid out of tax-payer's money and are currently not providing any sort of service to the public.   This is not an acceptable situation.
