Government settle Black farmer injustices

Hopefully you're aware that despite the 1999 settlement of a class action lawsuit by African-American farmers, most have still not received the Federal compensation required under the settlement. The 2011 budget has $1.5 billion set aside for settlement, as did the 2010 proposed budget. However, many recipients have been faced with red tape that has blocked their claims. This is intolerable. Black farmers and their descendants, cheated for more than a century by shenanigans that funded mainly White farmers, deserve and need what the courts and the Administration admit is due them. The President and congress must defeat racist amendments and bureaucratic delays in the Department of Agriculture. I urge Congress to approve the $1.5 billion needed to settle these claims, and order the Department of Agriculture to process them, now.
