Sentence Reduction For Prisoners Forced Into Solitary Confinement
Sentence Reduction For Prisoners Forced Into Solitary Confinement
Throughout the pandemic prisoners have been forgotten. We have been locked up for 23.5 hours per day but 72 hours plus is not uncommon . We have been confined to our cells since March 2020 with no reprieve. This has massively affected our mental health, family ties and progression.
I have witnessed extreme mental break downs , self harms and attempted suicides on a daily basis as a result of this barbaric and inhumane regime. We may have made bad choices that has put us where we are today , but that doesn’t mean we are bad people . We are all “Brothers, Fathers,Sons, Uncles, Grandfather's/Sons , Cousins and nephews and we deserve recognition for what we have endured .
I want a process of sentence reduction based on good behaviour or individual merit that is reflective of the extreme conditions, lack of regime , human rights and long term mental health implications that we have experienced. This will restore some faith in a broken justice system by rewarding conformity. The judge never sentenced us to solitary confinement. So it is only right and just that we are rewarded time off our sentences.
