Why this petition matters

Started by Nicola King

The Colston 4 walked free from court yesterday in Bristol having committed criminal damage to public property. The 4 young people pulled down a public statue of Edward Colston and dumped it into the harbour as part of a protest in support of BLM.

The act was criminal and the decision of the jury should not be accepted.  The democratic decision of the people of Bristol was that the statue should remain as part of the cities history and heritage. These people took the law into their own hands acting in their own interest and that if a minority.

Not replacing the statue is an injustice we can live with. Allowing criminal activity to go unpunished is not.

Please sign this petition to get this decision investigated as ultimately it has opened the floodgates for people to take what they like and destroy what they don't with no reprocussions. Anarchy in the making!
