With more than a dozen former British Soldiers committing suicide in the last 2 months alone something needs to change!

It should be made mandatory that every individual has a thorough mental health brief on returning from ALL tours. Whether they are fighting, teaching, whatever they are deployed for, all soldiers need more care. It affects soldiers leaving their loved ones and small babies behind, sometimes only weeks old. It affects veterans who fought in Afghanistan. Handing people leaflets and being given a phone number isn't enough! If someone is in a dark place, they will not reach out. In this day and age there is no excuse why soldiers should be made to feel they need to 'man up' and just get on with it. It is not a sign of weakness if they are struggling.

There is a huge lack of duty of care on the MoD's part, they should be fully briefing soldiers on their mental health whilst they are serving, this in turn could prevent so many suicides. Why do we keep waiting until it is too late?

Let's get this to parliament to try save some lives!
