Today HS2 started to destroy half of the Jones Hill Wood, near Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire, said to have inspired Roald Dahl to write Fantastic Mr Fox.
Just 2% of Britain is ancient woodland
Ancient woodland is irreplaceable.
It will take forty years for new saplings to provide habitat which is being destroyed.
At a time of climate crisis and biodiversity collapse HS2 is not a solution but part of the problem. It will never be carbon neutral in its proposed 120 year life span.
It is a burden on the tax payer. It is expensive to build and will be expensive to use.
Our economy does not need it post Covid
