Pass the bill banning 'excessively thin' models from the UK fashion industry

As many of you may already be aware, not too long ago France (along with other countries including Italy) passed the bill which bans excessively thin models from walking the catwalk or being photographed. The models are required to gain a certificate from their doctors which states they are healthy and of a healthy BMI for their weight. The aim for this is to stop unrealistic strives for a unhealthy thin body. The concept of having healthy models working seems to be rather obvious, yet this is still not the case within the UK. While it is clear eating disorders are not solely based upon the media and the desire to be thin, we cannot ignore the influence this is likely to have. With 1.6 million people in the UK suffering from an eating disorder and with anorexia nervosa having the highest mortality rate of any psychartric illness (20% of suffers unfortunately die directly from the illness) precautions must be put into place at the source and not before it gets too late.
