MANILA, Philippines - Workers and other sectors have called for the handing over of P10,000 in aid to every Filipino family as the country continues to fight the COVID pandemic.

Former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and lawmakers who are members of the Balik sa Tamang Serbisyo (BTS) movement have already filed House Bill 8597 or ‘P10K Ayuda Bill’ in Congress in February.

The bill aims to provide P10,000 in aid to every poor Filipino family suffering from severe calvary caused by the pandemic. The proposal was included in Bayanihan 3 but unfortunately, did not include the provision of P10,000 for all families.

"Only a few [have been given] now, and although many have been inspired who also want to help, we still really need this law that is for everyone to be given," Cayetano said.

From February to April this year, the group has distributed P10,000 to 38 residents of Caloocan City, Pasig City, Quezon City, and Cavite. During this Labor Day, 200 beneficiaries of “Ten Thousand Hopes,” received P10K.
