Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations are the two base level exams for higher studies. After completion of 10 years of formal education in a school system, students get a chance to evaluate his or her ability to face the higher education through the Madhyamik examination. This is the threshold. 

After successful completion of 10 years of formal education a student choose his or her stream of interest for higher education. Madhyamik is only the judgemental factor for students of West Bengal Board. 

After successful completion of two years of stream based studies students get chance to enter higher education after Higher Secondary Examination. This is the base level examination for Doctors, Engineers, Science, Social Studies and Language education. According to their performance in the said examination students get chance in different disciplines for higher studies. 

Students of other boards i.e. CBSE, ISC, ICSC etc. have appeared in preboard examinations, whose result may be a substitute deciding factor for higher studies in this covid situation. 

But the students of West Bengal Board has not appeared in any qualifying examination this year, which could be a substitute for Madhyamik or Higher Secondary Examination. 

So, this Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations are compulsary this year for the students of West Bengal Board.

Government should have decided about the mode of examination, it may be online or offline, the venue of examination, which may be home center or away centre, but just cancelling the examination is not a good decession in favour of the students. 

My apple to the Government of West Bengal to rethink and re-decide the the issue of cancelling or withhelding the board examination, and give justice to the students who are our future and has dedicated ten or twelve years of their early life in this education system with a dream in themselves for a better world.
