Pierre Beauregard started this petition to Government of the Republic of Ireland and

In 2004, the Irish people passed the 27th Amendment to the Irish constitution - to restrict Irish citizenship to children born in Ireland with at least one parent an Irish citizen, including naturalized ones. This was taken because of alleged exploitation of a loophole in Irish law granting "birthright citizenship" to children born in Ireland after the passing of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, particularly those wishing to gain residency in the UK (common travel area). Now, the Labour Party and others wish to essentially reverse this decision by enacting legislation that grants citizenship to children born in Ireland, irrespective of whether one of their parents is a citizen or not. I believe this will lead to "citizenship tourism" and people coming here to exploit our citizenship laws to gain residency. Oppose this!!!!!!!!!!!
