I care for the farmers and agriculture. By laying these roads, farm lands are acquired and there are possibilities for farmers getting into poverty line by selling their agricultural lands..

Existing 4 lane which becomes 2 lane from Chennai to Salem itself is free of traffic mostly.
I regularly travel from Chennai to my hometown Salem by road.why the government unnecessarily wants to spoil agricultural lands when the existing road itself is enough to handle traffic.
A project should do some good for people. We don't find any good intentions.
Save agricultural land and forests.
Save our natural resources.

Besides the severe environmental damages, water scarcity that will be induced and livelihood losses to farmers and villagers, the proposed highway will increase traffic accidents most likely. Tamil Nadu state tops the country in having the highest number of road accidents in India, as well as the second highest number of fatal road accidents in India.

The proposed road is mostly for ferrying materials for proposed business zones and new ports and will run as per stringent project schedules and thus speeds will be higher, it appears, and so fatal accidents would likely be higher than now. Lorries, Transport Owners Associations (as per TV reports) request Tamil Nadu State Government to renovate existing roads and facilities instead of a totally new road. With World Bank funds available through the central government, all road related issues can be corrected to reduce fatalities and make roads safer and effective to help towards the real progress of Tamil Nadu.

Besides the severe environmental damages and loss of livelihood security for affected villages, following are road-traffic related reasons for not going ahead.

Doesn't solve anything to bring the road so close to residential area. Where ever bypasses are build far enough from developements
