දයාබර ලක් දූ පුතුනි,

‍ලක් මවගේ උදාර දූ පුතුන් ලෙස වනබිම් රකිනා මෙම සාමූහික ප්‍රයත්නයට ආඩම්බරෙන් එක්වෙනු!

මේ අපේ ගොඩබිමයි, සාගරයයි, අහසයි...

ලංකාවේ  වනගහනය සීඝ්‍රයෙන් විනාශ වෙමින් සහ කරමින් පවතියි. කඩොලාන පද්ධති, තෙත්බිම් සිට රක්ෂිත වනාන්තර දක්වා එලි වෙමින් පවතියි. අප සිටින්නේ ලෝක කාර්මික විප්ලවයේ සිව්වන අවධියේය. මෙහිදි අප ලෝකයේ දැනට දියුණු රාජ්‍යයන් කාර්මික විප්ලවයෙහි මුල් අවධි වල ස්වාභාවික පරිසර වනසා කල ක්‍රියාදාමයෙන්ම ගොඩ ඒමට තැත් කිරීම, ඔවුන් රෑ වැටුනු වලේ අපි දවල් වැටෙනවා වැනිය. ඒවා උගත් පාඩම් විය යුතුය. පරිසරය රැකගනිමින් අපට තිරසාර සංවර්ධනයකට යා හැක.
සිංහරාජය, ආනවිලුන්දාව, පොළොන්නරුව ජල නිම්නය, මහවැලි ජල නිම්නය, විල්පත්තුව , මහඔය රඹකැන් ඔය රක්ෂිතය, මුතුරාජවෙල ආශ්‍රිත වන බිම් තර්ජනයට ලක්වී ඇති බව පසුගිය කාලයන් තුල මාධ්‍යජාල හරහා ඔබට දැනගන්නට ලැබෙන්න ඇතැයි, සිතමු. තවද ලංකාවේ කඩොලාන පද්ධති, කොරල්පර සහ වෙරළාශ්‍රිත පරිසර විනාශයන්ද සිහියට ගත යුතුව ඇත. කාලයක් මුළුල්ලේ  ස්වාභාවික පරිසර පද්ධති තුල සිදුවෙන විනාශයන්හි සරල පැතිකඩක් පහතින්:

1. දැව ජවාරම
2. ඉදී කිරීම් සහ භූමි එලිපෙහෙලි කිරීම
3. වැලි ගොඩදැමීම
4. වගා කටයුතු කිරීම
5. මැණික් කැණීම
6. සත්ත්ව දඩයම
7. කෘෂිකර්මික සත්ත්ව පාලනය
8. පහත් බිම් ගොඩ කිරීම
9. කොරල්පර, කඩොලාන පද්ධති සහ වෙරළාශ්‍රිත ස්වාභාවික පරිසරයන් විනාශ වෙන අයුරේ අවිධිමත් ධීවර කර්මාන්තය

ඇස් කන් පියා,  වැරදි කා මත හෝ පටවා, නිවට කමින් මිරිකී නොඉඳ අප එක්ව නැගිටිය යුතු කාලය එළඹ ඇත. මේ ඔබේද, මගේද අපගේ අනාගතයේද හුස්ම වැටෙන මව් බිමයි. වන වනසා රුක් රෝපණ කර ඵලක් නැත. මේ ගහකොළ, වතුර ටික, සතාසිව්පාවන් රැකගැනිමට අපට නොහැකි නම් අපගේ ජීවිතෙන් ඇති ඵලය කුමක්ද?

පාට පක්ෂ භේදයකින් තොරව අප සමඟ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී සමාජවාදී ජනරජයෙන් පහතින් සඳහන් කාරණා කාරුණිකව ඉල්ලීම සඳහා අභීත ඔබගේ ශක්තිය අප බලාපොරොත්තු වෙමු.

1. ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සියළු ස්වාභාවික පරිසර පද්ධති විනාශයන් වහාම නවතා පරිසර හානිය අවම තිරසාර සංවර්ධනකට අවශ්‍යය නිතී සකස් කිරීම.
තවදුරටත්:
(i) අක්‍රමවත් හා නීතිවිරෝධී භූමි සැකසීම්, කඳු කැපීම්, පාෂාණ කැඩීම් සහ පොළව කැණීම් තහනම් කිරීම. 
(ii) සියළු සංරක්ෂණය කරන ලද වන බිම් වල සිදුවෙන කෘෂිකර්මික වගා හා සත්ත්ව පාලනය තහනම් කිරීම.
(iii) වනාන්තර හා එහි ජලපෝෂක ප්‍රදේශයන්හි ජලාශ හා පොළවට කෘෂිකර්මික අකාබනික පොහොර, සබන් වැනි රසායනික ද්‍රව්‍ය, තෙල් වර්ග හා අනෙක් අපද්‍රව්‍යයන් අක්‍රමවත්ව බැහැර කිරීම තහනම් කිරීම.
(iv) ස්වාභාවික පරිසරය බැඳුනු සංචාරක කර්මාන්තයෙහි නීති හා රෙගුලාසි නගා සිටුවීම.

2. සියළු ස්වාභාවික සංරක්ෂිත පරිසර පද්ධති ආරක්ෂා කිරීම. තිරසාර සංවර්ධනයකට අවශ්‍යය උපාය මාර්ග හා ක්‍රම සැකසීම.
තවදුරටත්:
(i) වන සංහාරයන් සිදුවූ ප්‍රදේශයන්හි නැවත වන ප්‍රතිස්ථාපනය කිරීම හා වන භූමීන් නැවත සැකසීම.
(ii) ජලපෝෂක මාර්ග අහුරා කෙරෙන ඉදිකිරීම් තාක්ෂණකිව ක්‍රමවත් කිරීම
(iii) පොදු අපද්‍රව්‍ය බැහැර කිරීමේ ක්‍රම ක්‍රමවත් කිරීම.

3. විවෘතභාවය සහ පාරදෘශ්‍යභාවය
තවදුරටත්:
(i) ස්වාභාවික රක්ෂිතයන්ගේ මායිම් නිසි අයුරින් රැඳවීම.
(ii) පොදු ජනතාවට ඒවායෙහි  නිවැරදි කාලෝචිත සිතියම් ලබා ගැනීමට ඇති හැකියාව දියුණු කිරීම.
(iii) රක්ෂිතයන් ආශ්‍රිත යෝජිත සංවර්ධන ක්‍රියාවලි පිලිබඳ ජනතාව කල්තියා දැනුවත් කිරීම.
(iv) ස්වාභාවික පරිස‍රයන් සම්බන්ධ අසීරු තීරණ හමුවේ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී විවෘත මත විමසීම.

4. වනජීවින්ගේ අයිතිය තහවුරු කිරීම.
තවදුරටත්:
(i) සත්ත්වයින්ට කැළෑවකින් කැළෑවකට මාරු වීමට ඇති පටු වනපෙත් හරහා ගොඩබිමෙන් ඉදිකිරීම් කටයුතු නොකිරීම.
(ii) වන සත්ත්ව ගහන වලට ලඟා විය නොහැකි ස්ථාන වල ක්‍රමවත් අයුරින් කැළිකසළ බැහැර කිරීම.

5 . පරිසර සංරක්ෂණය සඳහා වූ අධ්‍යාපනික,  නව නිෂ්පාදන හා සමාජ සම්බන්ධතා දියුණු කිරීම.
තවදුරටත්:
(i) පාසැල් අධ්‍යාපනයට පරිසර පද්ධති සංරක්ෂණය හා ඒවායේ වටිනාකම වැඩිදුර ඉගැන්වීම.
(ii) පාරිසරික ගැටළු පිළිබඳව පොදු ජනයා දැනුවත් කිරීමට දැනුවත් කිරීම් සහ ප්‍රජාසේවා දියුණු කිරීම.
(iii) ගෙවතු වගාවට පොදු ජනයා සුභවාදී ලෙස පෙළඹ වීම.
(iv) කාබනික පොහොර භාවිතයට ගොවියන් උද්‍යෝගිමත් කිරීම මෙන්ම රක්ෂිත වනපෙත් කරා කෘෂිකර්මය ඇදී යෑමට නොදීම.
(v) තියෙන ඉඩ ප්‍රමාණයෙන් උපරිම ප්‍රයෝජන ගනිමින්, නගර වල මාවත් දෙපස පවා වගා කල හැකි ක්‍රම පිළිබඳව කථිකාවකට පැමිණීම.
(vi) නැවත නිෂ්පාදනය කල හැකි ශක්තීන් හා කැලිකසල උවදුරට විසඳුම් සෙවීමට ජනයා උද්‍යෝගිමත් කිරීම.
(vii) පරිසර හිතකාමී ව්‍යවසාහකයින්ව මෙන්ම පරිසරවේදීන්ව දිරිමත් කිරීම

ජනයාගේ අභිප්‍රායන් මත පත් වූ ජනරජයක යුතුකම ජනයාට සේවය කිරීමයි. එබැවින් බලාපොරොත්තු සහිතව කාරුණිකව රටට පරිසරයට ආදරය කරන මිනිසුන් විදියට පවතින රජයෙන් මේ සඳහා නිසි ක්‍රියාමාර්ග ගන්නා ලෙස ගෞරවපූර්වව කාරුණිකව ඉල්ලා සිටිමු.

මිනිසා පරිසරයේ කොටසක් මිස, පරිසරය මිනිසාගේ කොටසක් නොවේ. රජයට මෙන්ම තනි තනි ඔබටද, විශාල වගකීමක් ඇත. නිතී දමා විනය හැදිය හැකි නමුත් වගකීමක් ඇති පුරවැසියෙක්, ජලාශක අභියස සබන් වත් භාවිතා නොකරයි. එය පැමිණිය යුත්තේ, ඔබගේ හදවතින්මය. ගසක කොළයක්වත් අවශ්‍යයතාවයකින් තොරව නොකැඩීමට තරම් කාරුණික වෙන දිනක අප මිනිසුන් ලෙස ලොව ජය ගනීවි. අප එය ඔබට භාර කරමු.  රටවල්, මිනිසුන් සදාගත් බැමි වලින් වෙන් වී තිබුණද, ලෝකය එකම පද්ධතියකි. පරිසරය රැකගැනීමෙන්, එය ඔබගේ රැකවරණයද තහවුරු කරනු ඇත.

මේ කර්තව්‍යයට නන් අයුරින් සහයෝගය පළකරන ඔබ සැමට කෘතඤ්ඤතාවය පුද කරමු. මෙය සාමූහික ව්‍යායාමකි.

Dear World Citizens,

Earth is one system. Regardless of the land borders we created, everyone is responsible for every act which we do to our mother planet even we are thousands of kilometers away from each other. Deforestation is a drastic issue that has clear consequences for climate change, food security, the economy, and many more. Most importantly, yet we all have to win those challenges to reach "The Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs" named by The United Nations till 2030 for the sustainable future of the planet earth. Sri Lanka, the beautiful island, ruins its nature for decades. And now, we need all of your help as one nation of the world to protect Sri Lanka's natural resources by signing this petition to encourage the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lankan Government to ensure the protection of wildlife & the environment. Sometimes, even good leadership needs a small push.

Sri Lanka's forest density is rapidly declining and under a massive threat. Forest clearing is evolving from wetlands, mangroves to forest reserves. The human nation is in the 4th generation of the World Industrial Revolution. If any community tries to develop through the methods which the developed nations used for their development during the early stages of Industrial Revolutions by harshly destroying nature, those communities fall into the traps at daytime which the developed countries have fallen at night. Those should be the learned lessons for everyone as we should act wisely to step towards sustainable development. 

Suppose you have heard through the media that the lands around Sinharaja, Anavilundawa, Polonnaruwa Water Valley, Mahaweli Water Valley, Wilpattu, Maha Oya Rambaken Oya Reserve, and Muthurajawela is under threat. Sri Lanka's mangrove systems, coral reefs, and coastal ecosystems should also be kept in mind. Here below are some unfortunate motives behind the natural ecosystem disasters in Sri Lanka.

1. Timber smuggling

2. Constructions and forest clearing

3. Sand mining

4. Agricultural activities

5. Gem mining

6. Animal hunting

7. Animal Husbandry

8. Low-lying landfills

9. Destruction of coral reefs, mangrove systems, and coastal natural habitats through inefficient fishing methods and many other motives.

As proud world citizens, we are looking forward to your kind and courageous request to the following from the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka by signing this petition. Sri Lanka is just a start. We should start protecting other natural ecosystems across the oceans as well. 

1. Immediate cessation of unauthorized deforestation & formulation of laws required for sustainable development with minimal environmental damage.

Furthermore:

(i) Termination of the illegal & irregular quarry and excavation

(ii) Prohibition of agriculture, animal husbandry, and depleting fisheries activities inside of all kinds of forest reserves

(iii) Prohibition of inappropriate disposal of chemical inorganic fertilizers, oils, and other pollutants such as soaps into reservoirs and lands in forest catchment areas

(iv) Regulating the rules & regulations for eco-friendly tourism

2. Protection of all forest reserves. Strategies & methods implementation required for sustainable development.

Furthermore:

(i) Rehabilitation of deforested areas & landscape restoration

(ii)Technical regulation of the construction projects which cross the forest water catchment areas of natural ecosystems

(iii) Regulating the public waste disposal methods

3.Opennes & Transparency

Furthermore:

(i) Being transparent through ensuring proper demarcation of nature reserves

(ii) Publishing updated forest maps for public usage within Sri Lanka

(iii) Raising public awareness within Sri Lanka about the development proposals which relate to the forest reserves

(iv) Democratic openness & transparency in the face of difficult environmental decisions

4. Ensuring the Wildlife rights

Furthermore:

(i)Minimalizing the ground construction sites through the narrow forest reserve where the animals cross from forest to forest

(ii) Isolating the garbage disposal areas out of wildlife

5. Development of Education, Innovation & Networking regarding nature conservation.

Furthermore:

(i) School education development on wildlife & nature conservation

(ii) Raising public awareness and public engagement

(iii) Home gardening empowerment

(iv) Encouraging farmers to use organic fertilizers and to keep agriculture away from forest reserves

(v) Discussions on urban gardening

(vi) Actively support renewable energy & waste recycling initiatives

(vii) Networking and reinforcing the environmentalists & eco-friendly entrepreneurs

The duty of a republic based on the will of the people is to serve the people. Therefore, we respectfully and kindly request the government of Sri Lanka to take appropriate actions to protect natural ecosystems.

Man is part of the environment, not vice-versa.

Not only the government but as individuals, we all also have a huge responsibility. Even though the rules & regulations can shape the future, responsible citizens do not even use soap on the waterfront. It must thrive from your heart. We will win the world on the day, where we are kind enough not to break a single leaf of a tree unnecessarily. We leave it to you. By protecting the environment, it will also ensure your protection.
