Stop the Tax on Insurance Premiums Before It Starts

The Government of Saskatchewan announced in its 2017 budget that effective August 1st, PST will apply to insurance premiums.

This tax will cost most individuals and families hundreds or thousands of dollars more each year.  It will negatively impact their ability to purchase insurance as a means of protecting themselves against financial hardship or ruin in the future.

This tax will also cost most businesses thousands of dollars more each year on the various forms of insurance they purchase.  It might also force some employers to reduce or completely terminate the group insurance plans they provide their employees, potentially taking away some or all of the group life, disability, health, dental and/or other insurance benefits on which hundreds of thousands of people in Saskatchewan rely.
