Mary Anne RiordonBarry started this petition to Government of NB highway speed committee

Hundreds of vehicles and huge trucks (carrying boulders to the peninsula) pass Pokeshaw Park and Beach at high speeds while cars with trailers, canoes, kayaks, boats,  bikes etc are turning into and out of the community park and beach. The area has a decline and incline, both on turns, and the beach road is on a hill that also turns….PERFECT ACCIDENT!!
Truckers speed up to be able to climb the oncoming hill, (in both directions) in the very spots where tourists are entering and exiting.

Local residents see ‘near accidents’ every day in the summer. Eleven homes are on the inclines as well, so tourists turn in their driveways to go back to see the island and visit the park and beach, making more risk.
Someone will be killed soon!
Since MANY years the Pokeshaw and Black Rock Recreation Council Inc. and many individuals have asked the Dept of Highways and our local MLA Denis Landry to have the speed limit lowered for the summer months. Even truckers (Allardville company) and employees at the Prov highway garage in Paquetville agree that the highway speed is too high here.  It is dangerous.
A speed bump on the beach driveway has been added. Lookout signs are posted. Those are not going to prevent an accident on the highway.
Please share. We may lessen the stress and we may save a life?
