Why this petition matters

Started by Nipun Rai

Tulu is an endangered Dravidian language .Tulu has a speaking population of 2 million people worldwide. Tulu is mainly spoken in the Dakshina Kannada , Udupi and Kasargod districts of Kerala and Karnataka. Tulu is spoken by people irrespective of their religion and have made their mark in every field of the world , but their language is endangered. Tulu is not the official language of Kerala nor Karnataka, this has led to it's endangerment. Tulu is taught only in a few schools in the region which are not developed and their teachers aren't paid well. If the language is officialized it will receive budgets for education and developments. Tulu is regulated by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and the Kerala Sahitya Academy who haven't received enough budgets thus not been able to pay for services. The Tulu language is native to Tulunadu which has it's own separate cultures and traditions that are unlike any in the world. There has been a persistent effort by the state governments to impose their sole language but not Tulu. The script of Tulu is the most interesting scripts of India that are used by a very few people , they aren't taught in schools and if this moves on the language is said to go extinct. The Tulu language and script is in a complete crisis. But it is you who can change this , Tulu a language first spoken in the 2nd Century CE , before any other developed language , might just go extinct before you. Sign this petition and be part of the movement. Help the language and the community. Jai Tulunad!!!
