On May 1, a road map of when businesses can possibly re open was announced by the Irish Government. Hairdressers and Barbers have been placed in phase 4, July 20. Hairdressing and Barbering were viewed as one industry. We would like to propose that this should be reviewed and Barbershops be viewed as a stand alone industry.

Barbershops and Hairdressing salons offer different services. We feel that Barbershops pose less risk as they can offer a faster service. We do not necessarily need to wash the clients hair before a cutting service. We do not necessarily need use a blow dryer. We do not necessarily need to physically touch a client as we can carry out a full service using just a scissor and comb.

We feel with this revised service combined with correct PPE and a sterilising and hygiene system in operation, Barbershops could safely open during phase 3 of the road map.
