Ask the Irish Government to join the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance
The newly-released 2021 UNEP Production Gap Report sets out a clear vision for what we need to do to avoid catastrophic climate change: “Global fossil fuel production must start declining immediately and steeply to be consistent with limiting long-term warming to 1.5°C.”
However, governments are currently projecting an *increase* in fossil fuel production.
At COP26 in Glasgow, it’s now time for countries to step up and finally show leadership.
That’s why Denmark and Costa Rica have launched the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), the first diplomatic initiative that brings together ambitious countries that have ended licensing for new oil and gas exploration and production to address the climate crisis.
The Irish Government already banned oil and gas exploration in February 2021 – joining BOGA is a golden opportunity to combine forces with like-minded countries to push others to do the same.
Sign this petition if you think the Irish Government should show international leadership and join the BOGA coalition.
