More than 200 students of classes VI to VIII of municipal school, Ayodhya road, Mahul were depositing small amounts of money at the SBI bank, Mahul branch, in order to save money and also learn about banking procedures. They were encouraged and helped by their teacher Bibhishan Shinde. Their entire savings have gone down the drain now that SBI has declared a minimum saving of 5,000 rupees in bank accounts. The parents of these underprivileged children have been asked to shut the bank accounts after giving a fee of 590 rupees. The teacher and students are dissillusioned and sad. I want the bank to return the money that these children had painstakingly deposited in their accounts over two years.
