Are we really safe? 

While Government is busy promoting Beti Bachao, what are the officials doing to actually save them?

With the wildfire about Hathras, I thought, it is just another case. You know why? Because rape has become that common in India. Other than communal disharmony, crimes against women are at its peak. And what are the Officers doing about it?

Taking the example of Hathras, 

a. UP Police is cremating the victim without the family. You understand, her grieving family couldn't even perform the last rites. Is it because she is a Dalit? Is that why she was denied basic dignity after her death? It doesn't stop there.  

b. UP police has now declared that there are no signs of sexual assault, just attempt to murder. Even the tongue was not cut. 

I am not the type to start a movement. But this report https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/no-proof-of-rape-tongue-being-cut-in-hathras-case-up-police-1726707-2020-09-29 boiled my blood. 

 How long will the sexual predators walk on the street unchained? How long are we to live in fear? 

How long will a person wait devoid of justice because they are from the lower caste of society? 

The 19-year-old was raped on 14 September and she was denied the urgent medical care she needed. Even the police delayed in filing the report by 5 days because the accused was the son of the Thakur, higher class Hindu, the unspeakable. Despicable if you ask me. After filing the report, UP police shamefully tried to shield the culprits. A system rotting to the roots! 

I don't know whether this petition will be enough for the girl who died in vain just because she was a Dalit. I don't know whether it will be enough to protect every woman in the country. But I wish to create a ripple no matter how small it is. 

Enough with Justice. We want our right to live back! As a woman. As a human being. Dalit. Brahmin. Whatever be it. We are no object of pleasure. And these predators need to stop. It's high time.
