Why this petition matters

Started by Blazing Dodo

No matter what identity you carry, No matter what place of society you come from, No matter the god you believe in, what happened in less than a fortnight ago struck all our nerves. We are humans, and the thing this country chooses to forget is that we do carry empathy and humanity and we don't live in fear to act on it. I feel ashamed and frightened at the same time in typing the ordeal that a mere 19-year-old girl faced, and this won't be ignored and never be forgiven. We would be failing our ancestors, by ignoring. We would be failing the valor of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, and Subhash Chandra Bose, who sacrificed and suffered for the freedom of us, only to see us become a garbage state. Today, as the people of India, we need to fight and fight until we win, against this failed judicial system, against this failed government, and against this failed administration.

We need to put apart our differences and make this a country that our future loved ones, can live in peace with.

The government of UP stole our Manisha's family from their time to grieve. There are sources that indicate the government trying to coerce the victim's family into giving false statements about the death being a result of COVID-19, in return for some form of government compensation. Their incomprehension has no shame. The government has gone to the extent by citing medical examination “that no rape occurred”, and they believe the people of India are gullible enough to fall for their fake propaganda.

Our sentiments and our morales guide us to do the right thing, and the government of U.P has lost that privilege, in their inefficiency of delivering justice, all while this case wasn't in a media sensation. This makes us question that will justice ever be delivered without something making it big enough for the national headlines? Does it take national media headlines, and public support to get justice in the country?

My utmost goal is to make sure the victim's family directly receives all the support they need, not just financially, but emotionally too. I want to start a crowdfunding campaign to get them away from that toxic state, give them the time to grieve and conquer their trauma and start the process to rehabilitate and restore themselves into a new life.
