Sangeet Martand  Padmavibhushan Pt Jasraj , the doyen of Mewati gharana , is one of the greatest gifts of India to the world . 

Pandit Jasraj’s achievements are beyond compare because of the  fact that he has carved out his monumental global following without depriving his many million domestic admirers. He has been passionately loyal to his soil, while his music has scaled ethereal heights all over the planet. He has single-handedly paved the way for Indian vocal classical music to resonate across the world.

Pt Jasraj is known for creating  a novel form of jugalbandi called Jasrangi that is styled on the ancient system of moorchhana, between a male and a female vocalist, who each sing different ragas at the same time.He is also known for presenting a variety of rare ragas including Abiri Todi and Patdeepaki.In addition to performing classical music, Pt Jasraj has worked to popularise semi-classical musical styles, such as Haveli Sangeet, which involves semi-classical performances in temples.

Pt Jasraj has tutored several students who have gone on to perform as classical musicians.He is also the founder of schools for Indian classical music in Atlanta, Tampa, Vancouver, Toronto, New York, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Mumbai, and Kerala.

His career has spanned more than 80 years and he has been spreading Indian classical with utmost dedication . 

His contribution is immense in keeping the tradition of Indian Classical Music alive , and he truly is a Bharat Ratna .

Hence  , Pt jasraj should be awarded the Bharat Ratna on 28th of January 2020, when he will be turning 90 years old .
