Sanchita Saraf started this petition to Government of India and Election Commission

Indian state of West Bengal is at the crucial stage of developmental possibilities with state finishing the poll recently. The present state government's last tenure has been shambolic with lots of corruption, extortion, lawlessness and 'goons' culture. People of the state wanted a change from this and this election was an opportunity to get things right.

Overall, the election was conducted in a fair environment but there has been lots of reports of missing EVMs after the election and manipulation during the counting of votes. Not surprisingly the present government has managed to retain power but a significant number of their candidates have managed to win with a very narrow margin. This raises the possibility of state run manipulation and tampering of the process.

Given this we would like the Government of India and the Election Commission to intervene and arrange for a recounting of the votes in the constituencies where the margin of difference is less than 1000 votes. This is to ensure the fairness of the whole process and that the right candidate wins. This will also help people to have faith in their electoral process.
