Goa's well-known lawyer Amit Palekar has been leading the protest against the illegal construction at the World Heritage site in Old Goa. His fast unto death began on November 29th. His demands are demolition of the illegal construction and those who were involved in selling the heritage site should be punished. He is entering into 5th day of his indefinite hunger strike to save the Old Goa heritage site. His health is deteriorating every passing day.

An illegal building was allowed to be built at the UNESCO World Heritage Site and a religious site in Old Goa by the BJP government. According to records, Manish Munot, the husband of BJP spokeswoman Shaina NC and an accomplished Mumbai developer, purchased part of the property in 2015.

Shaina NC's husband began construction in the Old Goan heritage zone, close to the Cathedral. Goa Forward Party leader and the then TCP minister Vijai Sardesai gave the go-ahead for this construction.

An illegal construction was allowed in the heart of the heritage site of Old. All politicians were hand in gloves in this illegal deal. No action has been taken against those who allowed the sale of a historic site and the construction of a illegal bungalow by the husband of BJP leader Shaina NC.

The illegal construction must be demolished and those behind the illegal deal must be punished
