The outbreak of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a lethal disease that originated in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province in Central China. It has infected 2,889 people (confirmed) and killed 82 of them, and another 5,794 are among those being closely monitored by the health authorities in China. The city of Wuhan has 698 confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV, which is the highest in China. The communist government in Beijing has ordered a complete lockdown on Jan 23, 2020, of the Wuhan City and a partial lockdown of the entire Hubei Province.

The lockdown of the city left 11 million people in fear and imminent threat of infection. Lack of supply and medical equipment has caused grave panic in the city.

The U.S. Consulate in the epidemic-stricken Chinese city of Wuhan will evacuate its personnel and some private citizens and the U.S. government have booked a charter flight to transport their citizens back home.

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada said Monday that there are 167 Canadians registered in the region who are affected by the coronavirus outbreak, according to CBC News. A 29-year-old pregnant Canadian and her British husband are trying to escape the city of Wuhan before the birth of their second child, but say they are trapped by the quarantine and they cannot safely get back to Canada or UK. "Without diplomatic help, it would be almost impossible to leave." But Canada has no consular presence in Wuhan, which adds to the challenges.

Canada is a responsible democracy and our federal government always says they try to understand the concerns of Canadians. We cannot leave our citizens behind. The Government of Canada should follow the suits of the U.S. government to evacuate our citizens ASAP!!!
