Residential schools were the source of unspeakable crimes against humanity. They were sites of torture, murder and cultural genocide. Canadians recognize it, the UN recognizes it, and the world recognizes it.

Some religious organizations appear not to.

According to the Truth & Reconciliation Commission: "Together, Canadians must do more than just talk about reconciliation; we must learn how to practise reconciliation in our everyday lives—within ourselves and our families, and in our communities, governments, places of worship, schools, and workplaces."

Canadians cannot allow the discovery of a mass grave at a residential school to go unanswered. In honour of the 215 victims discovered in Kamloops, Canadians must demand that the Catholic Church apologize, provide all records related to the residential school, and make financial reparations to the First Nations peoples of Canada.

If the Church refuses to do so, we must use this blatant obstruction of justice and residential school denialism as grounds to revoke the tax exempt status of the church. If the Church will not provide financial reparations willingly, allow the Government of Canada to do so through their taxes.

Sign this petition to show that Canadians will not allow prolific abusers to evade responsibility. Sign this petition to support justice for our First Nations people.
