Petition Closed

On what would be Tori's 12th birthday (July 15) I will take action with this petition. Please sign and pass on.

It takes a village. If at any point while reading this, you think "Whatever. I can't be bothered." just read a little about the Tori Stafford murder trial. Then, if you still "can't be bothered" that's your choice.
One of the basic foundations of our judicial system is to deliver punishment that will set an example and deter others from committing similar crimes. The punishment delivered to offenders of violent crimes against children is far from a deterrent for those who may be thinking of committing similar crimes. The only punishment they receive that is remotely close to what they deserve is the punishment delivered by inmates while they are incarcerated. To those inmates, I say "Thank You". However, it is not the inmates job to deliver sentences and punishment. It is our Government's. They must stand up and put their foot down and get tough with this. Tough enough to make the next possible offender think twice.
Also anyone having knowledge or suspicion of the possibility of violent crimes against children should be held responsible, by law, to come forward and report their concerns without fear of repercussions if their concerns are unfounded.  Too often people see or hear things that don't seem "quite right" but they mind their own business. "Minding our own business" is contributing to children being tortured and killed.
Tori Stafford's trial will come and go, other news stories will take the lead and life will go on. Then the day will come when the crime will be repeated against another innocent child and we will all pretend to be shocked and disgusted as if it's the first time it's happened. We will ask "How could anyone do that to a child?" The answer is... because we let them.

If you agree, please sign. There's a box to check off if you don't want your signature appearing publicly. If you don't agree, at least send this on to other people to give them a chance to make a difference.
