Force U.S. Steel to sell former Stelco assets
U.S. Steel has again proven that they are not a net benefit to Canada. Once again they are using a phoney lockout to wiggle out of their deal with the feds. Who will stand up for Canadian manufacturing?

Force U.S. Steel to sell the former Stelco assets or take them back to court for not living up to their commitments for a second time.
When is this country going to get a government that has the back bone to stand up to American companies that pillage Canadian ones and shut them down?. U.S. Steel says they offered Local 8782 a fair deal. Dropping a deal on the members that had vague wording, open ended language and the threat of a plant closure if not accepted is not fair.
Apparently the most modern and efficient plant in North America is not profitable according to the company propaganda letter. When you only run the place half of the time sure it won't make money, but before the recession and the place was going full tilt it made Yankee Doodle tonnes of money.
The $1.01 an hour raise they claim we would get isn't a raise at all. It was money from the previous contract. Most of us have been receiving it for the past 3 years.
Kinda funny how the union negotiating committee was told that the company needs to tighten their belts but all the American plants got a raise. So did CEO John Surma, a $2.1 million one. Lets not forget CFO Gretchen Haggerty $3.4 million to $3.6 million and General Counsel James Garraux earned $3.3 million, up from $3.1 million. It is also ironic that John Surma also sits on Barack Obamas "Buy America" committee.
Harper step up to plate and send these guys packing. Did you learn anything from Caterpillar in London, ON? We need strong government that stands up for Canadians. Not ones that make secret deals with the foreign monopolies, lets them off the hook for breaking previous commitments then shafts the workers again.
