Supporting Tammy Herridge and others that have faced this outdated policy. We all know politicians are well looked after during illness.

It’s logical to give people suffering from a major illness time to recover without the extra worry of financial burden, 15 weeks is simply not enough.

My mom only had 15 weeks when going through Breast Cancer. She was worried about money during her entire journey. She went through chemo, surgeries and radiation while worrying about money. She went back to work earlier than most because she needed the money after almost a full year of 0 income. She’s struggling adjusting to work but feels she has to work. Cancer is enough stress, no one needs to worry about money on top of it.

My husband who was suffering from a lung disorder only got EI for 15 weeks. This is insufficient for someone with a chronic illness. Doesn’t leave you much to live on. He later passed away.
