Building a National Reconciliation Center will provide a tangible and permanent place of reconciliation that focuses on acknowledgment, education and healing.

The design and creation of this centre should be led by First Nations and funded by the Government of Canada.

The Centre will reflect acknowledgment of the many racial injustices inflicted upon Canada’s First Nations people including the horrendous toll of the residential school system. It will be a sacred place to educate others on these injustices with hope to foster understanding and compassion through conversation and introspection.

The location of this Centre should be determined by First Nation Leaders with full ongoing funding from the Government of Canada. The Centre will be designated a First Nations Sacred Site.

As an extension of National Reconciliation Centre, the Government of Canada will also fund the design, creation and placement of Reconciliation Monuments at each residential school location in Canada. These monuments will also be designed and created by First Nation Leaders.

It’s time for Canadians and people around the world to be educated on the horrific injustices First Nations endured due to systemic racism.

Signing this petition will start a conversation long overdue and hopefully build a path toward healing.
