Island Integrated Counselling, a non-profit professional counselling agency, is an important and valued part of our Vancouver Island communities. The agency has been providing essential mental health services and therapeutic counselling to those most in need of these services despite declining support from the Government of British Columbia. Without significant and long term funding commitments from the Government of British Columbia they will be unable to continue this work, which restores the ability of hurting people to meet their own housing, income, and wellness needs. We call on the Minister of Mental Health Addictions Judy Darcy and the Government of Premier John Horgan to reverse the decision to deny this agency increased and  adequate funding, and to do so immediately. The dignity of the hundreds of Island residents who are unable to afford the cost of their therapy and whose needs are unmet by overly long Island Health and provincial government waiting lists requires it.
