The Health Care system in Alberta is overrun by Covid patients - over 89% of whom are unvaccinated.

Surgeries, many of which patients have waited years to get, are being cancelled or postponed.

Children who waited years for needed surgeries are being told they don't know when they will be rescheduled.  

Even cases of heart and brain surgery are being postponed.

These are our children, our spouses, our parents, our brothers and sisters - people who likely worked at staying healthy - now turned away from a publicly funded health care system because unvaccinated Covid patients are hitting critical numbers, filling our ICU beds. 

Why?  Because our health care system is over loaded with unvaccinated Covid patients. A health care system that we are all paying for in our tax dollars (treating a Covid patient costs 3x as much as a heart attack patient and Covid patients stay in the ICU longer) . We have a health care system made possible by many superbly talented health care workers - that are now frustrated to have to focus on caring for unvaccinated Covid patients.

We need the government of Alberta to implement the following:

Covid patients who were eligible to be vaccinated (and had no health or age related reason to not get vaccinated) should not be eligible for publicly funded health care to treat them if they get Covid.  

It's one thing for someone to refuse to get vaccinated (that's their choice) - but it's another when these people start to be responsible for the misery, suffering and deaths of others.  We shouldn't be paying (either directly or via our health care system) for people who choose to not get vaccinated.
